You should know that there are other sites that also good for freelancing. Among western buyers Elance.com is more popular (but oDesk is gaining popularity faster)
*. Freelancing does not mean working in Freelancing sites (it is also called Freelance Consultancy). Freelancer is someone who is a company for him/herself.
*. Affiliate Marketing brings more money than Freelancing that we are doing. But, you have to know all the tactics and best practices of Affiliate Marketing before your start. Most of your clients are affiliate marketers. So, try to promote yourself to one.
*. The clients your get from oDesk are not the best client you can get. In my experience, they are not the best kind of clients. High paying customers never come to oDesk
*. Use odesk to build your portfolio, once it is achieved, try out searching clients by yourself and blog about what you can do to help clients find you
*. Try professional networking to communicate with B2B clients. Sometimes, the clients that come through search engines are not high paying.
*. In oDesk Clients actually have the service and you do it. But, you can use Warior Forum and Fivrr.com, where you have the service, and clients wants it.
